 KHALIFMAN REACHES THE SVESHNIKOV

In Part 10 of his famous opening series GM Alexander Khalifman faced the daunting task of advising his readers a repertoire against an opening as complicated as the Sicilian Sveshnikov (which he calls the Chelyabinsk Variation).

Against the main line Khalifman advises 9.Nd5 and 10.Bxf6 i.o. the other main branch with 9.Bxf6 and 10.Nd5.

Part 10 of his incredibly succesful repertoire series is as thorough and accessible as all the other ones.

 Alexander Khalifman in the Preface:
"I agree completely with the majority of grandmasters, who consider that the greatest problems which black must face nowadays in the Chelyabinsk variation are in the system 5...e5 6.Ndb5 d6 7.Bg5 a6 8. Na3 b5 9.Nd5 Be7 10.Bxf6 Bxf6 11.c3.

I have not tried to change radically any theoretical evaluations, but I have managed to discover some new ideas and I have to tell you that Black will need to solve difficult problems after them."

GM Hedinn Steingrimsson, ChessToday:
"This book logically explains the reasons why certain moves are recommended. This gives the attentive reader the opportunity not only to learn concrete super-grandmaster class opening theory, but also to understand and learn how to play the typical middlegame positions quite well.

I recommend this book to all chess players (...) The quality and amount of original analysis in this book sets a benchmark for other authors."
