Dresden Chess Olympiad
The Olympiad is the biannual highlight on the chess calender and the 2008 edition will take place in Dresden, Germany, from November 12 to 25. A record number of countries are taking part, 152 in the men's competition and 114 in the women's competition. Top-seeds in the men's Olympiad are Russia with Kramnik, Morozevich, Svidler, Grischuk and Jakovenko. Based on their average Elo the Russian women, led by world champion Alexandra Kosteniuk, are also the top favourites.
